Medicare Open Enrollment October 15 - December 7

9-19-2016 - A reminder that the Medicare Open Enrollment Period begins on October 15 and runs through December 7, 2016. During this period, Medicare recipients may make certain changes to Medicare coverage, notably:

  • Switch from one Medicare Advantage Plan to a different Medicare Advantage Plan.
  • Switch from one Medicare D (prescription drug) Plan to a different Medicare D Plan.
  • Switch from a Medicare Advantage Plan to original Medicare.
  • Switch from original Medicare to a Medicare Advantage Plan.

Even if you are happy with the Medicare Advantage Plan or Medicare D Plan you are currently enrolled in and know it will be continued in 2017, it is prudent to check on the plan's current offerings and any other changes that may apply. Changes may occur in co-pays, prescription drug offerings, etc. Beneficiaries should receive notification of their coverage and any pertinent changes by mail by September 30.

Detailed information is available at the Medicare website.
