2014 Medicare Premiums

New Medicare deductibles and cost-sharing numbers have been issued for 2014. Here are the new figures for Medicare premiums, deductibles and co-pays effective January 1, 2014:

  • Part A deductible: $1,216.00 (increase from $1,184.00)
  • Part B deductible: $147.00 (unchanged)
  • Part B premium: $104.90/month (unchanged)
  • Co-payment for hospital stay days 61-90: $304.00/day (was $296.00)
  • Co-payment for hospital stay, days 91 and beyond: $608.00/day (was $592.00)
  • Skilled nursing facility co-payment, days 21-100: $152.000/day (was $148.00)

Premiums for higher-income beneficiaries will remain unchanged in 2014 as follows:

  • Individuals with annual incomes between $85,000 and $107,000 and married couples with annual incomes between $170,000 and $214,000: $146.90 monthly premium.

  • Individuals with annual incomes between $107,000 and $160,000 and married couples with annual incomes between $214,000 and $320,000: $209.80 monthly premium.

  • Individuals with annual incomes between $160,000 and $214,000 and married couples with annual incomes between $320,000 and $428,000: $272.70 monthly premium.

  • Individuals with annual incomes of $214,000 or more and married couples with annual incomes of $428,000 or more in 2010 will pay a monthly premium of $335.70 monthly premium.

Rates differ for beneficiaries who are married but file a separate tax return from their spouse:

  • Those with incomes between $85,000 and $129,000: $272.70 monthly premium.

  • Those with incomes greater than $129,000: $335.70 monthly premium.
