Delayed Retirees Can Access SSA Calculator

03-10-2010 - If you're collecting Medicare but not yet collecting Social Security benefits, you can now use the Social Security Administration's online retirement calculator. Previously you had to contact an actual Social Security office to get an estimate of your retirement benefits.

To use the calculator, you must input your social security number. This allows the calculator to access your earnings record, so you don't have to manually enter your earnings from past years. The calculator then presents your retirement options, so you can evaluate how additional work may affect your benefits.

You cannot use the calculator if you do not have enough Social Security credits at this time to qualify for benefits or you are already receiving Social Security benefits.

To access the Retirement Estimator, click here.
